Ralph Korda (Jürgen Prochnow) is a development engineer with a big motor company. He has constructed an alternative automobile that runs without gasoline, the "Worldcar". His invention could mean a revolution for the international motor business and a threat for all oil producing countries and companies. Suddenly the continuation of the project is obstructed by the concern and Ralph tries to force the issue.

The Wehrmacht-Exhibition, showed in eleven major cities in Germany challenged an established social taboo. Up to that point, the image of the "morally proper" german forces had been kept up in the public debate in Germany. Suddenly, there were photos of Wehrmacht officers killing civilians. The nation was severely shaken. Michael Verhoeven has traced some of the unknown crimes the Wehrmacht is alleged to have committed - presenting unpublished documents. Verhoeven has filmed in places of terror in Ukraine and Belarus.

Munich, 1942. One day, anti-Hitler flyers are found at the university. Through a coincidence, Sophie Scholl discovers that her brother Hans and three of his friends have initiated this protest. After initially hesitating, she decides to also be active in the resistance movement. After a series of ever more risky activities, the group is finally arrested by the Gestapo. The screenplay for the movie was based on the letters and diary entries written by Hans and Sophie Scholl. The film reconstructs the resistance directed towards the evils of the Hitler regime by this group of students from Munich, around the Scholl siblings, who were arrested in 1943 and later executed.
